The Story

A Wine Idea Selection – June 2026

Summer has arrived, and with it comes another thoughtfully curated collection from A Wine Idea Selection, chosen by Sevgi TĂĽzel-Conghaile in collaboration with Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants.

For June, Sevgi has selected four wines that celebrate freshness, sunshine and effortless food pairing, taking us on a journey through some of Europe's most exciting wine regions. From sparkling Spanish classics to characterful Portuguese reds, this collection is designed for long evenings, shared tables and discovering new favourites.

The selection begins with Codorníu Clásico Brut Cava, a vibrant traditional-method sparkling wine from Catalonia. Crisp, lively and packed with citrus and orchard fruit character, it is the perfect aperitif and a reminder of why Cava remains one of the wine world's great-value sparkling styles.

From southern Italy comes La Guardiense Janare Falanghina del Sannio, showcasing one of Campania's most exciting indigenous grape varieties. Bright and aromatic, with notes of citrus, white flowers and stone fruit, it offers freshness and versatility in equal measure, making it a natural companion to seafood and Mediterranean cuisine.

Summer wouldn't be complete without rosé, and Brusset Côtes du Rhône 'Jeanne B.' Rosé delivers everything you could want from the style. Hailing from the southern Rhône Valley, it combines juicy red berry fruit with delicate floral notes and refreshing acidity, creating a rosé that is both charming and food-friendly.

Rounding out the collection is Dandy de Cidro Douro Tinto, a modern expression of Portugal's famous Douro Valley. Rich in flavour yet beautifully balanced, it offers layers of dark berries, spice and gentle structure, demonstrating why the Douro has become one of Europe's most exciting sources of red wine.

Together, these four wines embody the spirit of A Wine Idea—curious, approachable and rooted in the joy of discovery. Whether you're joining Sevgi at one of her monthly tastings or exploring the collection from home, the June Selection offers a perfect introduction to four distinctive wines and the stories behind them.
